soso circular

we're taking ownership of the entire life cycle of our swimwear

how it works

Loved your swimwear to bits? When it's finally reached the end of its life, our circular return process gives it a new one.

  • fill out the form by clicking the button below and send it back to circular@sososwim.com
  • once approved, we'll send you a free return label
  • pop it in the post and when we receive it back, we'll issue you store credit to put toward your next piece <33
  • we'll then sort it at our warehouse and assess whether it should be re-homed or recycled
  • if it still has life left, we'll find it a new home (the most sustainable outcome of all)
  • if it's ready to retire, we'll work with our partners to repurpose the material into something new: toys, mattresses, car parts, and so much more!

closing the loop

avoiding landfill

What happens to a piece of clothing at the end of its life matters just as much as how it was made. Every year, the fashion industry produces more than it can sell, more than we can wear, and far more than the planet can handle. The effects of this are harrowing: a truckload of clothing is dumped or burned every single second.

Keeping our swim out of landfill matters to us at every stage of the production process. We constantly assess each style carefully to avoid overproducing and use techniques like laser cutting to be as precise as possible and minimise fabric waste.

But we want to go further. We believe that true responsibility means thinking about what happens to a piece long after it leaves us, which is why we've built a way to close the cycle completely. Every swimsuit or bikini can be returned to us at the end of its life to be rehomed or recycled, so nothing ends up in landfill. We'll always prioritise rehoming where we can, and when that's not possible, the fabric gets broken down and turned into something new.

nothing wasted

two solutions

We're working with our partners Avena and Upparel to keep old swim out of landfill.

REHOMING
For swim that still has life left, rehoming is always our first choice. Our partners at Upparel will help us find a new home for pieces from Australia and New Zealand that are still in good condition. For returns from the UK, US and EU, we sort through these ourselves, setting aside anything wearable to be rehomed directly. Keeping a garment in circulation is always the most sustainable outcome, since it means no new resources are needed to replace it and nothing goes to waste before its time.

RECYCLING
For pieces that are too worn or damaged to be worn again, recycling is the next best thing. Our partners take the returned swimear and shred it down into a new raw material. This can be used across all kinds of industries, from furniture and bedding to automotive manufacturing. It's a process that means the fabric never truly reaches the end of the line. Rather than sitting in landfill for decades, the fibres get a second life in a completely different form, and the cycle keeps moving.
